There are three main types of solar panels:
1. Vacuum tube solar collectors:
These are the most popular type of solar panel we supply for two reasons.
Firstly due to their superior insulative qualities, vacuum tube collectors
will capture the most useful energy over the course of a year. This is
because the vacuum around the solar collector acts like a thermos flask
keeping collected solar energy in, even in cold weather. Secondly, due
to their modular design in the unlikely event of the collector ever being
damaged, a vacuum tube solar collector will keep working and one tube
can easily be replaced.
2. Glazed flat plate solar panels:
Are slightly cheaper than vacuum tube collectors and some people prefer
they way they look on a roof. Flat plate solar panels can either be mounted
on a roof, or in new build situation be inset into the roof so they are
even less visually intrusive. Flat plate solar panels can be regarded
as single glazed windows to vacuum tube collectors double glazed windows-
as such although they do not perform as well in winter, they produce more
heat during the summer and are an excellent choice for campsites and holiday
lets, where the majority of hot water use is in the summer.
3. Un-glazed flat plate panels:
are an inexpensive and effective way of providing heating to outdoor swimming
pools. Capture provides all three solar panel options and will advise
of the most appropriate in your situation.
