Kingspan KW6 (5.2kW)
Ideal for Small Holders
The KW6 wind turbine stands out from other small wind turbines because of patented blade hinge design, which allows it to regulate speed – maximising output. As the wind gets stronger, the blades pitch and cone to reduce aerodynamic efficiency. This maintains as high output even in the fiercest storms.
For small holders looking to produce their own electricity the KW6 is an ideal option. It is one of the leading turbines of its size, providing a consistent and reliable income. This down wind turbine is ideally suited to the UK wind environment. With no cut-out wind speed it will keep producing in very high wind speeds.

Site Requirements
| Grid Connection | A single-phase supply is required. The turbine can be connected to split-phase or three-phase systems if preferred. |
| Wind Speed | The Kingspan KW6 turbine is a class 2 rated turbine, but designed for class 1 wind speeds. This means it is suitable for sites with average wind speeds up to 10m/s. |
| Access | Turbine is off loaded using tele-handler. Access to site is using Landover. No cranes or tracks required from entrance to property. |

Planning Requirements
| Noise | A separation distance of a minimum of 280m is normally required from the nearest non-financially involved property. In areas of high background noise it may be possible to site this turbine closer. |
| Designated Land Areas | There are examples of the KW6 being installed in National Parks. |
| Radar/MOD | Various tower heights are offered to allow the turbine tip height to be under most MOD radars. |

Output
The estimated annual production figures are provided for a range of wind speeds below. Wind speeds are ‘hub height’ measurements. We have access to a number of wind speed database models to provide a rough guide to the yield potential at your site. Whilst it is always preferred to have actual wind speed data taken from the site, for this scale of turbine it would be unusual to record this data. A mid-range compromise is for a met-office virtual met mast report to be produced detailing the modelled wind climate at your site. We can provide you with this report for your site if you required.
| 5m/s | 6,000kWh |

FIT payments & Income
In this example it is assumed that 50% of the electricity produced by the turbine is exported and the other 50% is used on-site.
