The table above shows the output of our range of wind turbines at various wind speeds. In order to estimate the likely output at your site, you will need to find out your average annual wind speed. The Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) publish a UK wind speed database, which provides average annual wind speeds for each 1km grid square at various heights above ground level. In order to estimate the potential output from our range of turbines please follow the steps below:
1. Obtain a 6 figure grid reference for your site. Follow the link and enter your postcode. Be sure to select postcode. Write down the 8 figure Landranger (LR) grid reference returned i.e. AB123456. Remove digits 3 and 6 to obtain a 6 figure grid reference in the form: i.e. AB1245.
2. Visit the BERR wind speed database. Select "Great Britain" [England, Scotland, Wales], type in your 6 figure grid reference and click on "find wind data". Three tables of results will be returned. We are interested in the wind speeds at 10m above ground level. Results returned are for your grid square and the 8 surrounding grid squares.
3. Refer to the table above and estimate output at your site for your preferred wind turbine. We would advise looking closely at your electricity bills to determine your average annual consumption to allow the output from the wind system to be seen in context.
